What about Silicon Valley's holiday wish list?

We posed that question to a few of the Valley's usual suspects — the pothole-fixers, the community glue sticks, the big thinkers and the brave-hearted. You imagine, we told them, and we'll edit. Here's what they think the Valley needs from Santa:

Emmett D. Carson, CEO and President of Silicon Valley Community Foundation

"A true economic recovery, one in which Silicon Valley's unemployment rate drops and those who want work are able to find jobs at a livable wage. And may those who have roofs over their heads, food on their tables and jobs truly demonstrate the wealth of Silicon Valley by donating money or time to the growing number of people in our communities who need help."

Connie Martinez, Managing Director/CEO of 1stACT Silicon Valley, an arts and cultural group

"That Silicon Valley's children grow up with a continuum of arts and cultural experiences that bring joy and learning to their lives. That Silicon Valley's workforce gets out of their cubes and engages in the rich and wide variety of cultural experiences right here at home, like our unique festivals and budding live music scene. And that the Valley's love affair with global philanthropy extends to our social entrepreneurs and cultural organizations in Silicon Valley."

Audrey Rust, President of the Peninsula Open Space Trust, a land-protection group
